Working at the intersection of bio-art and blacksmithing, Amand Pierard (b. 2001, Mexico) develops a practice rooted in an alchemical understanding of materials — forged metal, mycelium, SCOBY, pine resin, ceramics, and natural found materials.
Her sculptural work draws from the symbolic languages and patterns of the natural world, translating them into physical form. The work engages with transformation, decay, and presence — exploring the intersections of life forms and the entanglement of human and non-human existence.
Operating within an interdisciplinary framework, Pierard approaches materials as active participants in an ongoing process of change and reinterpretation. Her sculptures reflect on the ecological conditions of our time, tracing the alchemical and transformative forces that bind human and non-human life together.
In December 2024, Pierard presented her first solo photography exhibition at El Rosario Studio.
